The Rwizi Regional Police Fire and Rescue Services reported a drowning incident involving a 17-year-old student named Jordan Balimwiaug from Mbarara Secondary School. Jordan, a resident of Kiswahili cell in Kakoba ward, Mbarara City, was a day student. The incident occurred on the 8th of April 2024, at 11:57 PM, at Katete Beach where he was swimming.
The fire department promptly responded to the scene on the 9th of April 2024, at 08:23 AM, and initiated a search operation to recover the body. Despite their efforts, the search yielded no results.
Efforts to locate the body are still ongoing, and an investigation into the drowning has been launched to determine the cause.
