Police in Bushenyi District have arrested four suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of former District Chief Finance Officer, Abias Asiimwe.

According to preliminary reports, Asiimwe’s body was discovered on Sunday in Kashenyi Ward, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi–Ishaka Municipality. The deceased, a resident of Kyandago Cell, is believed to have been attacked, hacked, and his body set on fire before the remains were concealed in the ceiling of a room within a building.

The shocking discovery sparked tension in Kashenyi Trading Centre, as residents gathered in large numbers, expressing anger and demanding swift justice. Police quickly intervened, cordoned off the scene, and deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd after some individuals attempted to attack suspected persons.

Authorities have since confirmed the arrest of four suspects as investigations continue to establish the motive behind the killing and bring all those responsible to justice.
