The outgoing Mayor of Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District, His Worship Alex Nathan Mugabe, has called on former local leaders to remain active in politics and continue safeguarding the development achievements realized during their term of office.
Mugabe made the remarks on Sunday during a farewell ceremony and award of certificates of recognition for the outgoing leadership of Kebisoni Town Council held at Switz Gardens in Kebisoni Town Council.
He thanked the outgoing leaders for what he described as successful and dedicated leadership, noting that their efforts had contributed to the growth and transformation of the town council. Mugabe urged them to continue mentoring newly elected leaders and work together to ensure continuity of the development projects initiated during their tenure.
The Town Clerk of Kebisoni Town Council, Ms. Adrine Keshaaha Nyetume, encouraged the outgoing leaders to maintain unity and cooperation even after leaving office. She said their continued involvement as responsible stakeholders would help strengthen the well-being and progress of the area.
During the event, Jennifer Nduhukire, the councilor representing persons with disabilities, commended the government for including persons with disabilities in programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM). However, she raised concerns over inadequate provision of mobility and support equipment for persons with disabilities.
Several outgoing councilors, including Richard Biryomumaisho Karani, Aboni Akankwatsa, and Sam Karuru, expressed satisfaction with the development projects implemented during their leadership. They cited improvements in roads, schools, and water services, and appealed for the sustainability and further improvement of the projects.
The outgoing District Councilor representing Kebisoni Town Council, David Kwebangira, also emphasized the need for the incoming leaders to protect and build on the development achievements already secured for the benefit of the community.
