The Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese, His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha, has called on Christians in Kabale Diocese to remain firm in their faith and to trust in the presence of Jesus Christ even during moments of hardship, confusion, and doubt.

He made the appeal during his homily at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, where he presided over the conclusion of a five-day pastoral visit organized under the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province Association (MEPA).

Reflecting on the resurrection story of Jesus Christ, the Archbishop compared the experiences of today’s believers with those of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. He noted that, just like the disciples who walked in sorrow and uncertainty, many Christians today also go through moments of sadness and confusion in their spiritual journey.

However, he emphasized that Jesus never abandons His people, but continues to walk with them—even when they fail to recognize His presence in difficult situations.

Archbishop Bainomugisha encouraged the faithful to deepen their understanding of Scripture, explaining that God’s plan is often misunderstood when viewed only through human expectations. He referred to the message in Luke 24:13–35, highlighting that the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ were all part of a divine plan that had been foretold long before its fulfillment.

He further stressed the importance of fellowship and spiritual reflection, pointing to the moment when the disciples recognized Jesus in the breaking of bread. He urged families to welcome Christ into their homes and daily lives, saying such encounters strengthen faith and bring clarity in times of difficulty.

The Archbishop also reminded Christians that true faith goes beyond what is seen physically, calling on believers to trust in God’s word and remain committed even when circumstances seem uncertain.

He concluded by encouraging Christians to boldly share their faith with others, just as the disciples rushed to proclaim the Good News after recognizing the risen Christ, noting that a genuine encounter with Jesus brings inner transformation and renewed purpose.
