Nyarushanje Subcounty Council bid farewell to outgoing councillors during the Friday council meeting, which marked the end of the 2021–2026 term. The council also laid the budget for the 2026/2027 financial year.

During the council meeting held Friday at Nyarushanje Council Hall, subcounty authorities led by the new Subcounty Chief paid farewell tributes and held a party, appreciating the outgoing councillors and the entire council leadership for completing the 2021–2026 term.

While presiding over the council, the Nyarushanje Council Speaker, Mr. Alex Tumwesigye, welcomed councillors and other technical staff to the meeting. He urged them to observe decorum and protocol, to carefully raise opinions, and to advise the council during the budget approval. He called on the outgoing councillors to continue being courageous and promoting their legacy, to remain exemplary in their respective communities, and to guide the incoming councillors for the development of Nyarushanje Subcounty.

Speaking as the guest of honor during the farewell party, the outgoing Nyarushanje LC3 Chairperson, Mr. Michael Musiime, appreciated the partnership, cooperation, and unity that he had observed in the 2021–2026 council. He noted that being united had helped them to approve and implement services, as well as handle the technical staff properly.

Mr. Musiime, also an outgoing subcounty custodian who has led the subcounty for two terms, comforted fellow leaders who lost in the concluded general elections. He urged them to continue being courageous, to heal, to remain kind-hearted, and for those who still have interest to prepare and return to elections stronger.

Meanwhile, he welcomed the new Subcounty Chief, Madam Pamela Kyokutamba, whom he praised as trustworthy and intelligent enough to effectively run subcounty activities and services smoothly.

The new Nyarushanje Subcounty Chief (SAS), Mrs. Pamela Kyokutamba, also expressed joy as she honored the outgoing councillors and those who were re-elected for leading and planning the subcounty effectively, with transparency and solidarity. She urged them to keep engaging the community and sensitize residents on how to overcome poverty and earthly temptations.

She pledged to lead the subcounty with transparency and truthfulness and committed to ensuring that services are implemented and monitored for the development of the area.

In the same council meeting, councillors, technical heads of departments, and subcounty custodians approved a UGX 246.3 million budget for the forthcoming 2026/2027 financial year, and every councillor was awarded an appreciation certificate as a way of expressing motivation and honor.
