Kanungu district police have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 30-year-old man, Abraham Mugarura, a resident of Karonde village, Nyakinoni parish.
According to reports, on April 3, 2025, at around 8:00 AM, the LC II chairperson received a distress call from Mr. Byaruhanga Gad, the area LC I chairperson of Karonde village, informing him that Mugarura had been found dead in a farm belonging to a resident known as Kururagire. The matter was promptly reported to Katete Police Post for further inquiry.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was last seen drinking at a bar owned by one Kemigisha Rhoda, raising suspicions that he may have been poisoned. Police officers from Kihihi, including a canine unit, visited and processed the crime scene, although it had already been tampered with before their arrival.
Mugarura’s body was taken to Kihihi Health Center IV for a postmortem examination before being handed over to his family for burial. Authorities noted visible bruises on his left arm’s triceps, adding another layer of suspicion to the case.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
