Police in Bushenyi District have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of a 22-year-old man who was lynched by an angry mob over allegations of chicken theft.
The incident occurred on April 4, 2025, at around 1:00 AM in Bushanje Village, Bumbaire Parish, Bumbaire Sub-county, Bushenyi District.
According to Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson, the deceased has been identified as Asaph Ahimbisibwe, a 22-year-old casual laborer and resident of Nyakatuntu Village in Ibaare Sub-county, Bushenyi District.
It is alleged that Ahimbisibwe was attacked and killed by a mob on suspicion of stealing a chicken belonging to an unidentified person in Bushanje Village.
Edson Muhame, the GISO of Bumbaire Sub-county, who reported the incident to police, said the body was discovered approximately half a kilometer from Kantunda Trading Centre. The deceased was found completely naked, bearing multiple external injuries consistent with a violent assault.

Authorities have condemned the act of mob justice and urged the public to report suspected crimes to law enforcement instead of taking matters into their own hands.
