The territorial police in Kisoro are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 32-year-old Alosious Tukamuhabwa, a market tax collector and resident of Kashija Village, Rubuguri Town Council, Kisoro District. Tukamuhabwa was allegedly found murdered in Rubuguri Township on the morning of November 30, 2024.
According to a report by the deceased’s wife, Tushemereirwe Gloria, her husband left home on November 29, 2024, to collect market tax dues as usual. Around 5:00 PM, she went to see him at Rubuguri Market to request some money for household needs. She waited for him to return home, but he never did. The following morning, at approximately 7:00 AM, she received information that her husband had been found naked and dead in Rubuguri Township. She rushed to the scene, identified the body as her husband, and reported the matter to Rubuguri Police Station.
Police officers promptly visited and cordoned off the scene of the crime. A police sniffer dog was deployed and picked up a scent, leading to the arrest of four suspects to assist with investigations. The scene was documented, and the body was transported to Rubuguri Health Center IV for a postmortem examination before being handed over to the family for burial.
Police urge anyone with information that could help identify the perpetrators to come forward so they can be brought to justice. Investigations are ongoing.
