Authorities in Rukungiri are currently searching for individuals connected to the killing of 29-year-old Medard Turyasingura, a resident of Bigaga cell in Rwerere town council, Rukungiri district. The incident reportedly occurred on the night of January 29, 2024.
On January 30, 2024, around 08:00 AM, in Ruhiira cell, Kazindiro parish, Bugangari sub-county, Kiconco Apophia discovered a dead body alongside a footpath near her garden while she was digging.
Twinamatsiko Bruce, passing by, informed her of the situation. Apophia raised an alarm, attracting local residents who gathered at the crime scene.
Apophia promptly informed the area chairperson and reported the matter to the police. Bugangari police station registered a murder case, and a team of investigators, including D/soco, D/CI, and homicide detectives, examined and documented the crime scene.
The victim’s body was transported to Rwakabengo HC III mortuary for postmortem examination. Investigations are currently underway.
