KANUNGU-The Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkiizi, Rt Rev Dan Zoreka has called upon Christians hailing from his Diocese living in Kampala metropolitan area to be united for service and growth.
Speaking during a Holy Communion service at Makerere University that drew Christians and friends of the Diocese of Kinkiizi on Sunday afternoon, Bishop Zoreka noted that for the Diocese and the Province to grow, people must put aside all their differences and unite for the transformation of their communities.
“To ensure the growth of our Diocese and the Province, we have chosen to collaborate with all sister religions in Kanungu District, embracing people of diverse faiths and political opinions,” stated Bishop Zoreka, underlining the inclusive approach adopted to drive community transformation.
In a documentary, Bishop Dan Zoreka provided an insightful overview of the Diocese’s 10-year strategic plan, highlighting achievements to date and unveiling plans.
Noteworthy among these plans is the ongoing resource mobilization for the reroofing of the Diocesan Cathedral, led by Eng. Sam Kajojo, the Kanungu District LC5 Chairman assisted by Mr. Seth Rukurungu.
According to Bishop Dan Zoreka, the Diocese intends to construct a new Bishop’s Palace and convert the existing Palace into a guesthouse, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing infrastructure.
The Diocese’s efforts towards environmental conservation were also emphasized.
“As the Diocese of Kinkiizi, we have taken the lead in spearheading environmental conservation through the planting of natural trees I thank Dr James Musinguzi Garuga for offering free seedlings. We are determined to make Kanungu district a green belt.”
The documentary further featured Canon Fabith Katureebe, the Diocesan Treasurer, who detailed the Diocese’s sustainability plans. Notably, the Diocese acquired 32 acres of land in Bugongo, Kihihi Town Council, a Hass avocado and palm trees growing project, and is working tirelessly to develop Ngoto Swamp Resort Hotel into a world-class tourism center.
Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi, the Chairman of Kinkizi Kampala Fellowship, in a speech read for him by Canon Dr. Ben Mbonye, commended the Bishop for sparing time to meet his people and to present to them what the Diocese is doing.
“I wish to take this opportunity to thank the Bishop, for sparing time after yesterday’s Martyr s Day to conduct this service. These kinds of services are in line with Kampala fellowship objectives of fellowshipping, knowing each other, and getting feedback for our mother diocese.” Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi said.
He added, “As we all know such services bring Christians together, shape people’s morals and character and create strong family ties based on Christian values which ultimately bring harmony and peace in our homes and the country. Many of us are products of this Christian upbringing and it is, therefore, befitting that we embrace such Christianity fellowships for ourselves, our children, and our country.”
He further said, “Let us strive to live our lives in accord with the teachings of the Bible, and in practicing the virtues of kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. And let us continue to work for the betterment of our community, to be that shining light of hope and inspiration for those around us.”
Dr. Jotham Musinguzi, the Director General of the National Population Council lauded Bishop Dan Zoreka and his leadership team for implementing the strategic plan and for carrying out a mid-term review.
Renowned Philanthropist and businessman, Dr James Musinguzi Garuga thanked the Diocese for engaging its Christians by showcasing their achievements and tasked the Diocesan leadership to continue taking stock of all developments in the Diocese and regularly share with its Parishioners.
He also called upon Christians to regularly mobilize resources to support their local churches.
The Service was organized by the Kinkiizi Kampala Fellowship under the leadership of former Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi, and the spiritual oversight of Rev Andrew Agaba, the Director for Household and Community Transformation in the Church of Uganda.
