Two people lost their lives in a fatal motorcycle accident on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at around 10:00 PM in Muganza village along the Kisoro-Kyanika road.
The motorcycle, allegedly traveling at high speed, was being ridden by Kwiringiye Jackson, a 26-year-old UPDF soldier attached to the Jinja College of Logistics and Engineering. Kwiringiye, a resident of Kifumba village in Bukimbiri Sub County, Kisoro District, died on the spot. His passenger, identified only as Percy from Kateretere village in Bukimbiri Sub County, was rushed to Kisoro Hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the rider lost control of the motorcycle while traveling from Kanaba to Kisoro town, causing it to overturn. Both victims reportedly struck their heads on a stone upon impact.
Police visited the scene, documented evidence, and created a sketch plan. The bodies were taken to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary, where postmortems were conducted on Monday.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, according to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate.
