The Kabale District police have arrested four individuals in connection with the death of Niwandinda Piason, a resident of Kyondo village, Katenga parish, Kamuganguzi sub-county. The suspects, identified as Tindiwegyi Jackline (50) and Mathias Mashemeeerwa (28), both residents of Kyondo village, are accused of assaulting the deceased, leading to his death.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on the evening of December 15, 2024, around 8:00 PM, when a dispute between the deceased and the suspects escalated into a violent confrontation. During the altercation, Piason was struck on the head with a blunt object, resulting in his death.
Upon discovering the body, residents alerted the Officer in Charge (OC) of the area, who quickly informed the District Criminal Investigations Department (CID). A team, led by the District CID officer, responded to the scene, where they processed the crime scene and gathered witness statements. The victim’s body was then taken to the Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Two additional suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed to avoid hindering the investigation, are currently being questioned, and the outcome will determine their involvement.
The police investigation is ongoing.
