Ntungamo District leaders have urged painters and builders to uphold honesty and professionalism as a foundation for growth, warning that unethical practices are hindering progress in the sector.

The Resident District Commissioner, Mariam Kagaiga, made the remarks on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, while officiating at the opening of the first regional Sadolin colour centre at Sap General Hardware in Ntungamo Town. She said some craftsmen misuse materials entrusted to them by clients, diverting them for personal gain or other projects—an act she described as a major setback to their success.

Kagaiga emphasized that integrity in business is key to building sustainable enterprises, noting that those who remain honest often grow into successful businesspeople.

Ntungamo Municipality Mayor, Jacob Kafureka Jaka Jex, called on painters to responsibly utilise their skills and maintain accountability in their work. He welcomed the establishment of the colour centre, saying it will boost service delivery and contribute to the town’s development.

Sadolin National Sales Officer, Wilson Muyende, said the facility will serve as a vital link between painters and customers by providing modern colour-mixing technology capable of producing a wide range of shades on demand. He added that the centre will also support community initiatives such as painting public schools, churches, hospitals, and zebra crossings.

The proprietor of Sap General Hardware, Saja Alexander, noted that the introduction of a digital colour-mixing machine will address longstanding challenges faced by customers in accessing specific paint shades.

In addition to offering products, the centre will function as a technical advisory hub for painters and business owners.

Sadolin, a Netherlands-founded paint company established in 1907, began its operations in Uganda in 1963.
