Gen. Henry Tumukunde has hailed Rukungirians for warmly welcoming President Museveni, pledged improved service delivery, and called on Municipality voters to vote wisely and elect capable leaders ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The Rukungiri Municipality NRM flag bearer, Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde, made these remarks while addressing hundreds of his supporters during campaign rallies held at Katobo Trading Centre, Maaya Church of Uganda, and Kanyanku Catholic Church.
Tumukunde praised the people of Rukungiri for welcoming President Y.K. Museveni the day before yesterday during his rally. He informed his supporters that he received a thanksgiving call and message from President Museveni, appreciating their efforts in mobilizing for the NRM Party and promoting messages of development and reconciliation.
Tumukunde condemned corruption in Rukungiri District, criticizing it for hindering service delivery and economic transformation in Rukungiri Municipality. He therefore called on voters to elect leaders who are capable of delivering essential services and to endorse President Y.K. Museveni.
Despite the strong opposition presence in Rukungiri, he chose to preach peace, harmony, and reconciliation. He criticized selfishness and arrogance among some area leaders, noting that it has greatly hindered development in Rukungiri.
Despite being a Municipality, he highlighted the scarcity of essential services, especially electricity and clean water sources. He pledged to address these challenges, saying he has already initiated the necessary engagements. He therefore called on voters to trust him with their votes in the forthcoming general elections.
