The Rukungiri Principal Education Officer, Madam Peace Natamba, has urged parents to embrace early childhood education, describing it as a crucial foundation for long-term academic success and the development of socially responsible individuals.

She made the call during the graduation ceremony of Top Class pupils at Sunrise Nursery and Primary School in Kasoroza, Nyakajeme Subcounty, Rukungiri District.

The ceremony saw 60 pupils graduate from Top Class to the primary section.

According to Madam Peace, early childhood education forms the bedrock of future learning, and parents should ensure that their children go through all levels of education up to university.

She noted that only a handful of parents who understand the value of education take their children to nursery school, while others consider it unnecessary. She emphasized that children who attend nursery join primary school with sharper minds.

The Chairperson of the Parents Teachers Association at Sunrise Nursery and Primary School, Patrick Tindiwence, stressed the importance of nursery education in shaping a child’s learning journey.

He hailed parents, teachers, and the school directors for the great work done in shaping the children’s future both academically and spiritually.

The Headteacher of Sunrise Nursery and Primary School, Emily Natukunda, noted that all their 60 pupils were well prepared and are ready for the primary section.

She also shared that the nursery section at the school continues to grow in enrollment as parents gradually appreciate the benefits of early learning.

Emily said some parents become motivated when they see their children catching up with activities at a young age. She added that at the end of each year, they hold graduation ceremonies so parents can witness their children marching and see what they have learned.

Emily also urged parents to play an active role in supporting early childhood education and to involve their children in light activities during holidays.
