A 31-year-old man named Ambrose Rukundo in Kabale, who works as a teacher at Triple M Primary School in Kabale and resides in Kibuzigye village, Rubanda district, has been apprehended by the police.
He is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl who also attends the same school.
According to a report provided by Sam Katama, a 40-year-old resident of Karushanga village in Kaharo sub-county, Kabale district, the incident allegedly took place on October 21, 2023, at approximately 10:00 AM, in Ahamurambi village, Kaharo sub-county, Kabale district.
It is reported that the suspect called the victim into the staff room when he was alone, under the pretense of needing assistance with books, and subsequently forced her into a sexual act.
Furthermore, it is alleged that the suspect did not use any protection during the act and afterward gave the victim 5,000 Ugandan shillings, instructing her not to disclose the incident to anyone. However, the girl confided in her father, who promptly reported the matter to the Njanja Police Station. As a result, the suspect was arrested.
The scene of the crime was visited and examined by Detective Superintendent Mukama Hakim, the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigation Division, and his team.
A sketch plan was prepared, relevant statements from witnesses were collected, and the victim received a medical examination. The investigation is currently ongoing.
