Police in Sheema District have launched an investigation into the discovery of two bodies—one of a middle-aged woman and the other of a juvenile—burnt beyond recognition and dumped in a forest.
The incident occurred at an unknown date and time in Buraro 1 Cell, Buraro Ward, Kitagata Town Council, Sheema District.
According to reports, the Officer in Charge (OC) of Kitagata Police Station received information from Kitagata Mayor David Atwiine, 50, about the presence of two unidentified bodies that had been severely burnt and abandoned in a hilly area.
One of the bodies, believed to be that of an adult female, was found face down with a burnt bra on her back. The body was completely charred, with some parts, including the right leg, severed and found nearby. The left leg was located about six meters away.
Police also discovered a plastic Rwenzori bottle containing fuel near the deceased’s left leg, and a blood-stained panga approximately 15 meters from the burnt body.
About 300 meters away from the suspected woman’s remains, another body—believed to be that of a female juvenile—was found in a decomposing state. The child was lying in a supine position, wearing a yellow short. Her neck had been partially severed, ears cut off, and both feet amputated.
Police spokesperson Tumusiime confirmed that the bodies were taken to Kitagata Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
