The Town Clerk Rukungiri Municipal Council Sharifa Nakintu Rugasa has challenged Schools administrator to use powers entrusted to them towards developing their schools and stop attributing challenges to the government they represent.
She said this on Thursday while administering the oath of allegiance and secrecy to the new Board of governors and PTA committees of primary schools in Rukungiri Municipality both government and private.
The event happened at Nyakibale Boarding primary school for Schools in Eastern Division, Nyakibale Lower Primary School for Schools in Southern Division, and Kiyaga Church of Uganda for Schools in Western Division.
Sharifa noted that these committees will be given rules of procedure and oriented to know their powers and responsibilities to be empowered on how to own and sustain their schools.
The Rukungiri Municipality Principal Education Officer Alfred Katabazi Mutuza said that they organized a general swearing-in once to sensitize these people about the importance of their committees and asked them to embrace meetings aimed at promoting cooperation and success.
The District Councilor representing Eastern Division Mucunguzi Fred commended the authorities for empowering school management committees noting that it is a powerful source of sustainability.
He further called on the members to avoid mixing politics with their responsibilities and aim at improving their schools.
