The residents of Kashoro Cell, Nyakyera Town Council, Ruhaama East Constituency, Ntungamo District have expressed fear over the rampant theft in their community.
According to the residents of Kashoro Cell, they explained that it has not been a long-standing incident, but it has caused them sleepless nights which puts their lives at risk, saying that a lot of properties have been stolen by unknown people.
Speaking to Lubega Mansuli, a salon man at Kashoro Cell, he explained with a lot of sorrow that unknown thieves broke into his salon and took seven hair machines, a cloth and a robe during the night. He explained that his business stopped since his gadgets were stolen. He therefore requests the security officials to help them by providing enough security in the community.
Speaking to Komugisha Susan, a business woman in Kashoro Cell, she explained that thieves broke into her house at around midnight and took many pairs of shoes and a number of T-shirts. Komugisha urgently requests the security officers to do the needful by providing security because their lives are at risk.
Speaking to Mwebembezi Wilber, the L.C of Kashoro Cell, he expressed that unknown people came into the village and took residents’ properties. Mwebembezi continued and explained that those unknown people have different keys which they use to open people’s homes. He explained that the whole community is in fear of losing both lives and properties unless the police quickly respond to this challenge.
In response, Rubahiika Chrispus, the Gomborora Internal Security Officer (GISO), explained that regular meetings at the local councils are being held by LCs and regular patrolling by the police is also being carried out, as serious sensitization is also taking place. Therefore, residents should not be too afraid, as this will be sorted very soon.
Continuing to get further responses from Magezi Nazilu, the Officer in Charge (O.C) of Nyakyera Police Station, he explained to our reporter that he has recorded many cases of theft in his office, but serious patrolling by the police is being carried out regularly. Magezi explained that residents should not be too worried since security officials are aware of it. He again explained that those unknown people who steal people’s properties will very soon be caught and penalised according to the law.
