The territorial police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which retired D/AIP Emmanuel Karekaho, male adult 61year old, a resident of Kyeshoro cell, Nyabitete parish, Buyanja sub-county in the Rukungiri, was strangled to death which on Thursday 6th July 2023.
On Thursday at exactly 11:42 am, the retired Police officer withdrew money worth 5,200,000 Uganda shillings from his account no. 3200340718 of Centenary Bank Rukungiri branch and majestically moved out of the banking Hall.
Later at about 03:30 pm, he was discovered dead at Rwakoma cell, Southern ward, Kebisoni town council, Rubabo County in the Rukungiri district by one Magezi Patrick male adult 24 years, Munyankore, and a farm manager to Michael Karekaho who was going back home after work on the farm.
According to the area residents, an unidentified Toyota Wish motor vehicle was seen parked at the scene before the body was discovered.
Magezi Patrick immediately informed his boss who advised him to report to Kebisoni police station which he did and a case was entered vide SD REF 10/06/07/2023 of Kebisoni Police station.
Rukungiri district central Police Station was notified and they responded in time.
The scene was visited, examined, and documented, a bank withdrawal slip from centenary bank Rukungiri, a Wallet, and a covid 19 document for the year 2021 was recovered on the body, and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo HC 3 for Postmortem.
Inquiries have commenced.
