The Muslim community of Rujumbura Twale has expressed deep appreciation for the continued support of the Rukungiri District Kadhi, Sheikh Abdulmalik Byaruhanga Kayole, towards the development of their community.

The acknowledgment came during a consultative meeting held at Ruruku Mosque, the headquarters of Rujumbura Twale.

Speaking at the meeting, the County Sheikh, Sheikh Badlu Byabagambi, and Twale Chairperson, Akim Matovu, praised Sheikh Kayole for consistently prioritizing the needs of the community. They highlighted his role in lobbying for the construction of new mosques at Ruruku and Nyamayenje, as well as the installation of boreholes at these mosques to ensure access to clean water, a vital resource for worshippers.

The leaders also noted that the Twale community is implementing several development projects, including the construction of a new Twale office and expansion of the old mosque. They extended gratitude to the District Kadhi, Gen. Henry Tumukunde, other leaders, and the Government of Uganda for their continued support.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairperson of the Rukungiri Muslim Community, Iddi Misho, called on Muslims in Rujumbura Twale to respect their leaders. He urged community members to understand their responsibilities and follow proper procedures in decision-making, warning that some leaders’ actions sometimes hinder development efforts.

Addressing the community, Sheikh Abdulmalik Byaruhanga Kayole encouraged Muslims to work diligently to improve their livelihoods, families, and the broader community. He emphasized adherence to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council constitution, calling it essential for orderly leadership and sustainable development.

Sheikh Kayole also praised the Rujumbura Twale leadership for their ongoing development initiatives. He expressed gratitude to Hajjat Shania Kigozi, Country Director of One Ummah Uganda, and Gen. Henry Tumukunde for their support in constructing two new mosques and donating ten boreholes in Rukungiri Municipality.
