Rwakabengo ward voters hail Hon. Turyahikayo Mary Paula for advocating socio-economic developmental projects in Rukungiri Municipality, such as Boona Radio, consistent business community mega-events, calls for Boona TV, and the renovation of Rukungiri Main Stadium.
Rukungiri Municipality residents, particularly those in Rwakabengo Ward in Southern Division, came out to praise Hon. Turyahikayo Mary Paula as a leader who has supported socio-economic transformation in the municipality, despite being based in Rubabo.
Speaking on behalf of the residents during the campaign rally at Rwakabengo A Cell, Mr. Natukunda Patrick JJ, the Rwakabengo Ward municipal councilor aspirant, hailed the Rukungiri District WMP NRM flag bearer, together with her co-director Mr. Maanige Wenceslas, for starting the commercial public radio, Boona FM, which has become the voice of development for all people. They also commended her for advocating the improvement of Rukungiri Main Stadium by sponsoring ladders and organizing business-oriented mega-events, which have supported development in Rukungiri District.
Since all these developmental projects in Rwakabengo Southern Division, including efforts involving opposition supporters, residents have endorsed Hon. Mary Paula and other NRM flag bearers, mostly Gen. Henry Tumukunde, as leaders capable of addressing their challenges.
Oliver Owera, the Rwakabengo Ward municipal woman councillor aspirant, also hailed Mary Paula for lobbying services for Rukungiri Municipality through the development and empowerment of business-oriented structures and essential programs such as Radio Boona and football matches, which have supported the business community and employed youth.
She called for support not only from NRM supporters but also from opposition supporters and independents for herself, Hon. Paula, and Gen. Tumukunde to modernize Rukungiri Municipality.
Similarly, the Southern Division LC3 Chairperson and NRM flag bearer, Mr. Karuhanga Peter, together with Kanyinya Area Councillor Beyongyera Paul, expressed support for Hon. Mary Paula as a leader known for essential service delivery and development, saying that they even voted for her without physically knowing her or seeing her face.
Not only showing hunger for developmental infrastructures expected from Mary Paula, but following NRM discipline and President Museveni’s emphasis, Mr. Karuhanga Peter announced that they will boycott any NRM structure candidate or flag bearer suspected of supporting the independent candidate, incumbent Hon. Medius Kaharaata, condemning the act as divisive within the NRM party and disobedient to the NRM family and President Museveni.
Meanwhile, the Rukungiri WMP aspirant and NRM flag bearer, Hon. Mary Paula, appreciated voters for electing her in the NRM primaries. However, she called for doubled efforts and support from all political party supporters, whether opposition or independents, ahead of the forthcoming general elections for Rukungiri District modernization.
Responding to challenges, she pledged the modernization of Rukungiri Municipality and the entire district through the renovation of Rukungiri Main Stadium, Boona TV, a government technical institution in the municipality, and empowerment of cooperative groups such as women and youth groups, as well as boda-boda SACCOs. She assured them that all these will be achieved when she is trusted with massive votes on 15th January, together with other NRM flag bearers.
