The Rukungiri Municipal Education Officer, Mr. Agume Robert, has urged parents to actively support the education of their children if Uganda is to produce well-educated citizens in the future.

Speaking at the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Annual General Meeting 2025 at Kinyasano Girls’ High School, Agume emphasized that parents have a critical role in providing the necessary resources for learning, including books, pens, and school fees. He expressed concern over parents who neglect these responsibilities, warning that such neglect undermines the nation’s education standards.

Agume also encouraged parents to model positive behavior by avoiding domestic violence, noting that negative home environments affect children emotionally and set poor examples. He further called on teachers to work closely with parents not only to enhance students’ academic performance but also to instill discipline.

Kinyasano Girls’ High School Headteacher, Hellen Kiyasiimire, reported that the school is steadily regaining its reputation. She revealed that current enrollment stands at 910 students, up from 275 in 2022, attributing the growth to the school’s renewed focus on academic excellence and discipline.

Kiyasiimire praised the 2025 senior class for their discipline and strong academic performance. All students achieved first-class results, with one student scoring 20 points and the rest qualifying for higher education programs, including degree and diploma courses. She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to continue nurturing students both academically and morally.

During the event, the school also launched a water project valued at 25 million shillings, funded by the Rotary Club of Mutundwe. The initiative was championed by Stell Muheru, a former student and current president of the Rotary Club of Mutundwe. Muheru expressed the alumni’s dedication to supporting the school and helping restore its prestige.

She also thanked the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesmus, for his continued support in reviving diocesan schools, including Kinyasano Girls’ High School and Makobore High School.
