Reverend John Bosco Banganzya of Kilimbe Parish has challenged the youth to respect, love, and take care of their parents, especially the elderly.

This message was delivered yesterday during the wedding ceremony of Yofesi Rutaabe, 110 years old, and Feredansi Nyambuba, 89 years old. The event took place at their home in Kanaaba, Rugandu, Katojo Parish, Rutenga Sub-county, Kanungu District.

In his sermon, Reverend John Bosco emphasized the importance of respecting and loving parents, noting that such care can contribute to their well-being and longevity. He urged the youth to be compassionate and kind toward the elderly, explaining that this can bring blessings.

He also highlighted the physical decline that comes with old age and stressed that the youth have a responsibility to support the elderly in accessing medical services and other necessities. Reverend Bosco pointed out that blessings and wisdom often come from parents, who have experienced life in different times and can offer valuable guidance. He encouraged the youth to embrace the wisdom of the elderly to make informed decisions in life.

Feredansi Nyambuba, the 89-year-old bride, expressed her joy at having reached this milestone with her husband, attributing their happiness to God’s mercy. She mentioned that they enjoy good health due to their diet of local foods. She also encouraged those who have not yet received holy matrimony to do so, as it can strengthen the bond between spouses and bring them closer to God.

In interviews with some of their children—Godfrey Rwamahe, Pasion Turyamusiima, and Vanisi Tumukuratiire—they expressed happiness at their parents’ longevity and the celebration of their love. They attributed their own success and family stability to their parents’ guidance and teachings, which emphasized hard work, love, and faith.

They praised their parents as inspirational figures, noting that many people look up to them for their faith and dedication. They also extended their gratitude to everyone who supported the celebration and wished their parents continued blessings.
