Thousands of Christians from North Kigezi Diocese and beyond on Sunday gathered at All Saints Church in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, to witness the installation of Rev. Dickson Kakanyisa as the new Archdeacon of Rujumbura Archdeaconry in North Kigezi Diocese.
Rev. Dickson Kakanyisa began his priesthood in 2016 as the chaplain at Kinyasano Girls High School. He later served at Rwabukoba Church of Uganda in Ruhinda Sub County, then as Archdeacon in Bwanga Archdeaconry, Nyarushanje Sub County. On January 29th, 2024, he was transferred to Rujumbura Archdeaconry, commonly known as All Saints Church.
The installation ceremony was officiated by Mr. Emmy Barigye Kiremire, a businessman from Kampala. He urged Christians with generous hearts to support the education of disadvantaged individuals, highlighting prominent figures who were once supported by well-wishers and have since contributed back to society.
In his sermon, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, challenged the clergy to avoid creating inequalities among believers. He emphasized that the Church is meant to serve all, rather than focusing on receiving.
Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament and President of the Father’s Union in North Kigezi, advocated for a second term in Parliament to fulfill his manifesto.
