The territorial police in Kisoro are investigating the circumstances under which a drug store at Maregamo Health Center III, located in Maregamo Village, Murora Sub-county, Kisoro District, was broken into and an unspecified quantity of drugs stolen.

The incident is believed to have occurred on the night of January 19, 2025, at an unknown time. Two nurses, along with the askari (security guard), were on night duty that evening. On the morning of January 20, 2025, they handed over to the incoming day shift staff as usual. However, at around 11:30 a.m., the day staff discovered that the drug store had been broken into.

The in-charge clinical officer, Madam Dusingize Hylon, 27, was immediately informed and reported the matter to her district supervisors. A formal report was subsequently registered at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kisoro, prompting an investigation.

Police, together with the district drug supervisor, visited the crime scene, processed it, and documented their findings. A cut padlock was recovered as an exhibit. Two suspects were arrested for questioning: the security guard, Namara Patrick, and the lab assistant, Habwomuremye Gadi. A search was conducted at the suspects’ premises, but no stolen drugs were recovered.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the culprits and recover the stolen drugs.
