Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye, jailed founder of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), has urged party flag bearers in the upcoming general elections to strengthen unity and solidarity as a pathway to prosperity.

The message was delivered today, Friday, 3rd October 2025, by Kenneth Opora Geoffrey, the PFF National Deputy Speaker, during an induction meeting for party flag bearers at Heritage Country Club Hotel in Rwakabengo Ward, Southern Division, Rukungiri District.

Opora highlighted Besigye’s continued focus on liberation despite incarceration, emphasizing the importance of discipline, cooperation, and unity for the success of the party’s struggle.

Hon. Fred Tumuhairwe Turyamuhweza, former Rujumbura County Member of Parliament and PFF Governor for the Kigezi region, outlined the four pillars of the PFF manifesto: Freedom, Equal Opportunities, Dignity, and Shared Prosperity. He described these principles as the party’s national ideology in the fight against election rigging, abductions, corruption, and poor service delivery — issues that, he noted, led to the 1981 Bush War.

Former Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Betty Muzanira, encouraged party supporters to be mindful of factors that influence vote mobilization and to actively defend candidates against social media attacks.

Aloysius Mugarura, PFF District Chairperson, congratulated flag bearers vetted by the National Party team, including Ingrid Turinawe Kamateneti for Rukungiri Municipality, Hon. Naboth Namanya for Rubabo County, and Hon. Fred Turyamuhweza for Rujumbura County. He also pledged to oppose independent candidates within PFF to ensure a quality election campaign.

Bernard Musinguzi, a PFF aspirant for LC3 Chairperson of Buyanja Town Council, expressed gratitude for the party’s strength and criticized the Electoral Commission for limiting opposition access to voter registers.

The induction meeting comes as PFF intensifies preparations for the general elections, with party leaders emphasizing unity, discipline, and adherence to the party’s core principles as key to electoral success.
