RUKUNGIRI– Over 150 Catholic youth leaders from Nyakibale Catholic parish in Rukungiri district have been trained on patriotism as part of the efforts to change their mindset.
This was during a one-week training that ended on Sunday which was prepared by the Nyakibale parish youth department.
Speaking at the closure of the workshop, Steven Nsubuga Bewaayo the chief guest who doubles as Rukungiri resident district commissioner challenged the youth to desist from being used by people who intend to achieve their goals.
He called upon the youth to love their country and desist from joining groups that may mislead them but instead engage in productive activities.
According to Vaito Bashasha the patriotism coordinator in Rukungiri district, patriotism helps the youth and all Ugandans to know and love their country in addition to providing leadership skills, financial literature, and environmental protection among others
He asked the participants to put into practice whatever they were taught if they are to see a peaceful and stable Uganda.
Rev Fr mugabe cleophas the Nyakibale parish youth coordinator thanked all youth who attended the workshop and asked them to portray a good image in their communities as people who have undertaken patriotism courses
He thanked Nyakibale parish leaders for accepting the workshop to take place which has equipped youth with different leadership skills.
Father Mugabe also cautioned the youth to desist from bad acts like alcoholism, smoking, and homosexuality among others which may spoil their lives.
