The Deputy National Treasurer at the National Resistance Movement, Ms. Jacklyn Kyatuhaire, has challenged people in Kanungu to be focused and choose competent leaders who will foster development in their respective areas.

These were part of her message read by the former Rubabo County MP, Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, at Kambuga Catholic Parish, Kabale Diocese, during a Holy Trinity Sunday Mass that was aimed at raising funds to build a Marian building at this very parish.

Kyatuhaire said that most Ugandans are influenced by money and propaganda, leading them to choose incompetent leaders, a threat to development.

She said that development can only be determined by good leaders, urging Ugandans not to be influenced.

In her own words, Hon. Mary Paula condemned propaganda, defamation, among other bad behaviours in politics, noting that these can also influence electorates to make bad decisions.

She said that during this season, electorates are only interested in hearing candidates’ manifestos, not seeing candidates exchanging words, creating propaganda, and promising things they can’t fulfil.

She urged Ugandans not to be influenced by all these things, but to aim at choosing leaders that will enhance service delivery.

During his sermon, the parish priest for Kambuga Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Paul Ssemwogerere, emphasized the meaning of the Holy Trinity in our faith, noting that God the Father created, the Son saved the world from sin, and God the Holy Spirit is a fountain of blessings.

He said the parish has been lacking a Marian statue and a Marian building, yet they are paramount in our faith.
