118 pilgrims from North Kigezi diocese on Tuesday arrived at Namugongo martyrs shrine for the Martyrs Day celebrations.

North Kigezi pilgrims started their trek to Namugongo on 17th May and it took them only 13 days to arrive at the site.

Rev. Edson Ampaire the North Kigezi diocesan missioner told our reporter that all 118 pilgrims arrived well and are still healthy and energetic, noting that the Holy Spirit and the intercession of the martyrs have profoundly enabled them to reach Namugongo.

A section of pilgrims said that they have used their pilgrimage to pray for peace, unity, and love in their families and the country at large.

Others disclosed that they have used the moment to pray for the gift of healing, renewal, and deliverance from God.

The pilgrims also prayed that respect for human rights and dignity be restored and asked God to intervene over the high costs of living, and the ramp killings in the country.

Every 3rd June, Christians from all walks of life, throng Nagongo Martyrs shrine to commemorate the holy Martyrs who were murdered on the orders of Kabaka Mwanga between the years 1885 and 1887.
