Muslim women have been challenged to love and give respect to their husbands if they are to see peace and development in their families.

This was part of the remarks made by Maakka Suliat the Rukungiri district Muslim women and children affairs chairperson while addressing Muslims of Buyanja mosque in Buyanja town council during the district Muslim Khazi familiarization tour on Friday.

She said Muslim men sometimes marry more than one wife based on different reasons, like disrespect, denying them love and care, poor health, and personal hygiene among others.

Suliat asked them to cooperate with their husbands before making any decisions rather than taking their personal decision.

A new Buyanja mosque committee was sworn in and asked to be united and cooperative for the five years they will be serving on the committee as speculated in the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council constitution.

Hajji Abdullah Bananuka, the Rukungiri district Muslim chairperson asked the new  Buyanja mosque committee members to abide by the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion and desist from any act that is against their religion like alcoholism among others.

The Rukungiri district Muslim Kadhi  Sheik Abdulmalik Byaruhanga Kayole said that his tour is to interact with Muslims across the district and to know the geographic location and land ownership of all mosques in different areas across the district so that they can get land titles to overcome land grabbers.

He asked the new sworn-in committees to work together with mosque imams if they are to foster development in their mosques.

Saibu Mateto the chairperson of Buyanja mosque thanked the district Kadhi for considering their mosque in his familiarization tour hence pledging to support him in his ministry.

He added that as Buyanja mosque, they are now focusing on purchasing more land to get more space around their mosque which will help them to get enough space to enable them to do some projects.

The district Muslim khazi was accompanied by the district Muslim secretary Silage Kiconco, development office Mwaza Habibi and Rukungiri Muslim education officer Yahaya Tuesday among others.
