Shivan Nahurira, 25 years old and a mother of triplets, shed tears of joy following the successful delivery of her babies despite facing challenges related to care and babysitting manpower.
Shivan, originally from Mabanga Parish, Kebisoni Sub County in Rukungiri District, is married in Bucence Parish, Kanyabwanga Sub County, Mitooma District. She successfully delivered three healthy baby boys through a cesarean section at Karoli Lwanga Hospital Nyakibale on December 31, 2024.
She expressed her gratitude to God for the safe operation, relief from pregnancy complications, and the gift of healthy children. However, Shivan shared her frustrations about the lack of adequate support for childcare and called on well-wishers to assist her during this challenging time.
Jackline Tushabomwe, Shivan’s mother, recounted her concerns after the scan revealed she was expecting triplets, the first occurrence in their family. She expressed her worries about the immense effort required to collectively care for the newborns.
Bruce Akatwijuka, Shivan’s brother and a teacher at St. Jerome Secondary School Ndama, shared his excitement about welcoming triplets into the family.
Dr. Chrispus Mugabe, the attending medical professional, assured that the delivery process was safe for both the mother and the babies. He noted that Shivan’s triplet birth could be hereditary and related to irregular conception patterns. He advised the mother to consider family planning to safeguard her health and ensure the proper care and upbringing of her children.
