Parents and community leaders have praised the role of sports in fostering excitement among the youth and shielding them from crimes and immorality.
This sentiment was echoed on Thursday, January 2, 2025, by Ms. Udaya Evalyn, the Kibirizi Parish Woman Councilor, during her address at the closing ceremony of the Kibirizi Inter-Cells Annual Football Tournament. The event was initiated and sponsored by Brazius Nuwamanya Kasenene, an electrician from Mabanga Trading Center dedicated to promoting unity and engagement among the youth to combat idleness and its associated challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the Kibirizi LC3 Chairperson, Mr. Benon Mugisha Auntie, Ms. Evalyn highlighted the tournament’s impact in transforming the lives of young people. She noted how enhanced talents, strengthened unity, and improved networking have steered many away from drug abuse and immorality.
Dan Kasiime, Chairperson LC1 Mabunu Cell, lauded Brazius Enterprises for their sponsorship, which has alleviated the burden of managing troubled youth. He called upon politicians to support such youth initiatives and advocated for rehabilitating the community playground to enhance its suitability for sports activities.
The tournament’s sponsor, Brazius Nuwamanya Kasenene, commended the organizers for maintaining transparency throughout the competition. He reaffirmed his vision of using sports to engage the youth, reduce crime, and foster love and peace across Kibirizi Parish.
The event also drew praise from the players. Team captains Davis Tumuranzye and Gilbert Amanya Kamavinga of Kibirizi Cell and Fogo Magezi of Mabunu Cell applauded Brazius for breaking the monotony of village life, promoting talent, and nurturing friendships and good health among participants and spectators.
The winners of the tournament were awarded a goat, while outstanding players and participating teams received various prizes, marking a successful end to an initiative that united and inspired the community.
