A 50-year-old man collapsed and died instantly in Kambuga Sub County, Kanungu District, in a shocking incident reported to authorities on Monday evening.
The deceased, identified as Basokoza Augustin, a resident of Kayembe Cell, Kabuga Parish, Kihihi Sub County, was walking to an unknown destination while carrying a sack of luggage when the incident occurred. According to reports, he stopped at a residential area in Nyarutojo Cell, Nyaruto Parish, and asked for directions to relieve himself. As he proceeded to do so, he suddenly collapsed and passed away on the spot.
Bitendere Jamil, the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) of Kambuga Sub County, reported the incident to Kihihi Police Station at approximately 6:00 PM. In response, police officers led by D/CPL Niwagaba Francis, together with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of Kambuga Police Station, swiftly visited the scene to assess the situation.
Authorities have classified the case as a sudden death and are currently conducting investigations to determine the exact cause. The body of the deceased remains at the scene as arrangements are being made to transport it to Kambuga Mortuary for further examination.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and assured the public that inquiries are ongoing.
