Local Council One (LC1) Chairpersons in Bikurungu Town Council, Rukungiri District, are in conflict with the Town Council administration over delayed allowances.
The annual allowance of 120,000 UGX, initiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as a token of appreciation for their voluntary public services, has not been disbursed.
James Tibemanya, also known as Kagurusi, the Chairperson of LC1 Mironzi 3 village, Central Ward, highlighted that he provides official stamp services for free and implements government policies, but he currently lacks ink for his stamp due to the delayed allowance.
Francis Muhwezi, the Chairperson of LC2 Central Ward, attributed the poor condition of the roads to the demotivation of LC1 Chairpersons, which hampers their ability to organize communal activities.
Lauben Wallen Namanya, the Councilor representing Central Ward and Secretary for Production, reiterated that plans are in place to disburse the allowances at the beginning of next week. He attributed the confusion to poor communication and a lack of transparency among the technical staff.
