North Kigezi Diocesan Education Secretary, Rev. Nshabaruhanga Muntrive, has commended Kinyasano Boarding Primary School for its outstanding academic achievements, which he said are helping to eradicate ignorance and backwardness in the diocese.

Rev. Muntrive made these remarks yesterday during a celebration at the school, marking its success in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). He noted that Kinyasano Boarding Primary School is elevating the diocese’s reputation through its remarkable contributions to educating the nation’s children.

According to national rankings, the school placed 55th in the 2024 PLE, a performance that Rev. Muntrive said puts North Kigezi Diocese on the map.

He also urged teachers to act as parental figures to their students, expressing concern over educators who mislead learners by engaging them in harmful behaviors such as alcoholism and premarital sex, which negatively impact academic performance.

Kinyasano Boarding Primary School Head Teacher, Mr. Tumushangye Barnard, revealed that out of the 136 candidates who sat for the 2024 PLE, 96 attained Division One, while 40 placed in Division Two. He attributed this success to strong collaboration among parents, school authorities, teachers, and pupils.

Mr. Tumushangye praised teachers for their tireless dedication, parents for their unwavering support, and the school’s foundation body for its guidance. He encouraged candidates preparing for their final exams to work diligently and uphold the school’s reputation through hard work and commitment.

As the guest of honor, Rukungiri Municipality MP Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahirwa urged primary school graduates to maintain their momentum as they transition to secondary school, cautioning that early success can be undone if they become complacent.

He also encouraged parents to invest in their local schools by enrolling their children and supporting development initiatives. Additionally, he commended North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, for his efforts in reviving diocesan schools, particularly Makobore High School and Kinyasano Girls School, which he noted are making significant improvements.

In the 2024 national ranking of UPE schools, Kinyasano Boarding Primary School secured the 55th position and emerged as the top-performing school in both Rukungiri Municipality and Rukungiri District.
