Rev. Fr. Izidoro Bakanshobeza Mugurusi, the Assistant Priest at Christ the King Catholic Parish, Rukungiri, has called on Christians to cultivate love and reject hatred, jealousy, and violence as a way of preparing for the Kingdom of Heaven.

Fr. Mugurusi delivered this message on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, during a funeral mass for Manzi Vinicius, the three-year-old son of Keijukuru Viani, the Kitimba Ward Municipal Councilor. The service was held in Kaaro Village, Kitimba Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

Reflecting on the brevity of human life, Fr. Mugurusi emphasized the need for peace and unity, urging people to focus on love rather than harboring resentment.

Deputy Mayor of Rukungiri Municipality, Bernard Baryahabwe, expressed his condolences to the bereaved family. He also used the occasion to encourage residents to participate in the ongoing voter register verification exercise. Additionally, he raised concern over low student attendance in schools and urged parents to prioritize their children’s education.

Keijukuru Viani, the grieving father, shared the difficulties he faced in trying to save his son’s life, describing Manzi’s passing as a heartbreaking loss.

The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, including former Rukungiri District Woman MP Hon. Betty Muzanira, Eastern Division Mayor David Tumwesigye, Southern Division Chairperson Denis Ngabirano, and Rukungiri District Business Fraternity Chairperson Chrosostimu Byaruhanga Rwakana.
