The director of Kebisoni Institute, Darius Nahumuza, has urged students to prioritize discipline as a key factor for success. He made this appeal during a gathering at Kahengye Parents Secondary School in Nyamunuka town council, Ntungamo district, where parents, pupils, teachers, and well-wishers had gathered to celebrate the school’s performance in the Uganda Certificate of Education exams for 2023.
Nahumuza emphasized that many students perform poorly not due to lack of education, but rather because of a lack of discipline. He encouraged current students to work hard and surpass the achievements of the previous year.
As an alumnus of Kahengye Parents Secondary School, Nahumuza praised the school authorities for their commitment to providing quality education despite challenges. He acknowledged that despite obstacles, the school perseveres to ensure that Ugandan children receive education.
The head teacher, Mrs. Agnes Korugyendo, reported that out of 60 candidates who sat for the UNEB exams in 2023, 8 achieved division one, 18 division two, 17 division three, and 17 division four. She commended the former candidates for their discipline, hard work, and faith, which contributed to their success.
However, Korugyendo noted that the school faced challenges, including the impact of COVID-19 on the candidates’ performance. The school proprietors, represented by Mrs. Judith Atwongyeire, also highlighted challenges such as high prices of food and scholastic materials, as well as parents’ failure to pay school fees on time.
Atwongyeire echoed the call for discipline among current students and encouraged them to emulate the positive attributes of their predecessors.
