Rev. Ivan Mwongera, the head teacher of Kashenyi Secondary School in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District, has urged students to embrace co-curricular activities for their health benefits and job opportunities.

He made the appeal today, Thursday, 3rd April 2025, during the closing ceremony of the Inter-Class Talent Show competitions held at the school premises, where the Senior Three class emerged as the winner.

Rev. Ivan Mwongera emphasized that despite the ministry’s policy on co-curricular activities, the school actively promotes them to boost students’ self-esteem, create a conducive learning environment, mitigate stress and idleness, and nurture talents for future opportunities.

Emmanuel Twinomujuni, the adjudicator and coach, provided recommendations for the talent show competitions, emphasizing the importance of engaging shy students and allowing them to perform better in class.

Collins Mbabazize, the School Entertainment Club patron, expressed gratitude for the successful competition and highlighted the event’s objectives, including inspiring admirers and addressing mental health challenges caused by idleness.

Andrew Tumwebaze, a student, expressed his love for the Talent Show competitions, noting that they help cultivate talent for potential job opportunities and promote the school in external competitions.
