Pupils at St. Williams Nursery and Primary School in Rwenanura, Buyanja Sub-county, received a significant boost to their education yesterday as My Digital (MYD) Company donated essential scholastic materials to support their studies.
The donated items included school bags, books, pens, mathematical sets, and water bottles for the pupils. In addition, the school administration received chalk, a Uganda flag, reams of paper, and manila to facilitate teaching and learning activities.
Steven Muhwezi, who led the delegation from MYD Company, expressed the organization’s concern over the high number of young Ugandans dropping out of school due to a lack of basic educational materials. He emphasized that many children struggle to learn without the necessary tools, which motivated MYD to extend support to the pupils of St. Williams Nursery and Primary School.
Muhwezi also urged parents to prioritize their children’s education by ensuring they have the necessary school requirements, noting that the absence of such materials significantly affects their academic progress.
The school’s headteacher, Frank Nabaasa, commended My Digital Company for its commitment to supporting learners. He revealed that most pupils face challenges in their studies due to a lack of scholastic materials. According to Nabaasa, the assistance provided will greatly improve the school’s academic standards by ensuring that both pupils and teachers are well-equipped for effective teaching and learning.
As an educationist, Nabaasa also expressed concern over parents who neglect their responsibility to provide for their children’s education, attributing this to poor academic performance among some learners.
A section of pupils expressed their gratitude to MYD for the generous donation, stating that the support will enable them to focus on their studies without struggles.
According to Muhwezi, the total value of the donated items amounted to UGX 3 million.
