A tragic road accident occurred at 02:30 PM on the Kabale-Mbarara road, near Kabaraga village, after the fresh food station, resulting in the death of one person and leaving several others in critical condition.

The accident involved a white Toyota Hiace, registration number UBL 327M, which was reportedly driven by an unknown driver who fled the scene after the incident. The vehicle was traveling from Kabale town heading towards Mbarara when it lost control and overturned multiple times.
The deceased has been identified as Agaba Innocent, a 40-year-old male teacher at Kyogo SS Kabale and a resident of Kakuga village, Rutare 1, Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District. He was a passenger in the vehicle.

In addition to the fatality, the accident left 13 victims, including 7 male adults and 6 female adults. Their identities are yet to be confirmed due to their critical conditions.
The scene was promptly attended to by ASP Mucunguzi and a team of officers. The body of the deceased was transported to Kabale Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted. The injured victims were rushed to Kabale Hospital and are currently being treated for their severe injuries.

A sketch plan of the accident scene has been drawn, and the vehicle was towed to the police station for further inspection by the Investigation of Vehicle (IOV) team. Preliminary investigations suggest that the cause of the accident may have been speeding, though this is still under investigation.
The police have launched inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the accident and are currently searching for the driver of the vehicle.
