As Kigezi awaits the anticipated presidential tour, farmers in Rukiga district have been urged to utilize their limited land productively by adopting the Four-Acre Model from the presidential program.

This call was made by Eliab Abaasa, the National Leader of “Youth for Kaguta 2026,” during a meeting with farmers in Rukiga, under the umbrella of the Rukiga Small-scale Farmers Group, at Green Heights in Bukinda Trading Center, Rukiga District.

Abaasa emphasized that although many families in Kigezi may not have land equivalent to four acres, they can still be engaged in productive agriculture by adapting the four-acre knowledge to a two-acre or one-acre model. He added that land is a key factor of production and should be utilized effectively.

Abaasa also urged farmers to embrace the president’s message of not only working for the stomach. He called on law enforcement officers to arrest those who decampaign government programs and misuse funds meant for household poverty eradication.

Farmers, led by Niwamanya Deus Kajwiga, the Chairperson of the Rukiga Small-scale Farmers Group, shared that many families in Rukiga have less than an acre of land, but with productive use, they can rise above poverty. Wensi Aharituhera, a member of the group, expressed frustration that some members register for poverty eradication programs but fail to use the funds for their intended purpose. He urged the government to continue sensitizing the public on how to utilize funds productively.
