The territorial police in Kabale have registered a suspected drowning incident involving Fred Kasirikare, a 23-year-old resident of Kabura village, Kyanamira sub-county, Kabale District. The incident occurred on February 9, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM.

It is alleged that on the same day, Kasirikare, alongside an accomplice identified as Seguya, stole a pig valued at 250,000 shillings from an unidentified resident within Kyanamira. As the two attempted to flee, they were chased by local residents. In the course of evading capture, Kasirikare reportedly jumped and fell into a water-filled ditch, where he drowned.

Upon receiving the news, the victim’s relatives alerted the police, who promptly responded to the scene. A case of drowning has been filed as investigations continue to verify the details of the incident. The scene was thoroughly examined and documented by the Kabale homicide team, led by D/SP Mukama Hakim, and statements were collected from witnesses. The body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.
