Residents and local leaders in Rwamucucu and Kashambya Sub Counties within Rukiga District are expressing their dissatisfaction with the deteriorating condition of district roads, exacerbated by heavy rains in the region.
The affected roads include Nyaruziba-Nyakashebeya and Kabimbiri-Kamusiza, crucial links connecting Kashambya, Rwamucucu Sub Counties, and Muhanga Town Council. Additionally, roads such as Nyakarambi, Noozi, and Nyakagabagaba in Rwamucucu Sub County are also facing challenges. Eddy Mugisha, the Chairperson of Rwamucucu Sub County LCIII, has urged district authorities to undertake maintenance work promptly to restore normal traffic flow.
Residents like Elly Ainembabazi from Nyakarambi Village have highlighted the poor state of sections of Noozi road persisting for over four months, citing potholes and inadequate drainage that renders the road impassable during rainfall. Kashambya Sub County Chairperson, Elineho Bandaganiire, reported that district authorities assured him of funds allocated to address the deplorable state of these roads.
When approached for comment, Rukiga District Engineer Deogratius Mutabazi mentioned that he would review his files and provide information tomorrow regarding the specific roads slated for maintenance in the current financial year.
