Parents of Kyaburere Primary School in Bugangari sub-county, Rukungiri district, expressed dissatisfaction with unexpected changes in the upcoming construction project at the school.
Originally, Rukungiri district had committed to building two classrooms and an office at the school. However, due to insufficient funds, they decided to proceed with constructing only two classrooms. This decision left both parents and local leaders disappointed.
Recently, Rukungiri RDC Steven Nsubuga attempted to postpone the project launch, citing confusion in the agreement. The discrepancy arose from a mismatch between the project description on the cover page, which indicated two classrooms and an office, and the bills of quantities, which specified only two classrooms.
Nsubuga emphasized the need for clarity in project details before launching, but upon further discussion with the district chairperson and other authorities, they decided to proceed with constructing the classrooms while postponing the office construction.
Ambrose Tumuhiise, the school’s management committee chairperson, expressed disappointment, stating that while they appreciate the upcoming classrooms, an office was also crucial for the school.
Barns Byarugaba, the school head teacher, commended authorities for addressing the school’s need for classrooms but voiced disappointment over the district’s failure to fulfill its initial promise of constructing two classrooms and an office.
Godfrey Nshabire, the director of Kinombe Nyaruzinga Construction Company, assured that once the error is rectified, they are committed to delivering quality work. He explained that, based on the Ministry of Education’s bills of quantities, the company is tasked with constructing only two classrooms.
