The Diocese of Kigezi has officially launched the construction of a UGX 3.1 billion commercial building in Kabale Municipality.

The project, aimed at generating income for the diocese, will be constructed along the Kabale-Kisoro road by Murumba & Company Building and Construction Limited.

According to the diocese, over UGX 1.2 billion has already been raised through the Bishop’s Development Fund (BDF), an annual fundraising initiative.

Speaking at the launch, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, assured transparency throughout the construction process to ensure that the funds contributed by Christians are properly utilized. He also urged the construction company to adhere strictly to the project plan and maintain integrity in their work.

Dr. Sylvia Tumuheirwe Alineitwe, the Vice Chairperson of the Bishop’s Development Fund, reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing additional resources for the project’s completion. She emphasized that once completed, the commercial building will benefit the entire community, regardless of religious affiliation.

Eng. Mathias Murumba, Managing Director of Murumba & Company Building and Construction Limited, pledged to uphold integrity throughout the construction period. He assured that the work would follow the approved plan and adhere to the rightful Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
