Authorities in Rukungiri District have confirmed that preparations are in their final stages ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s visit on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Speaking to our reporter from his office, Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Steven Nsubuga Bewayo assured the public that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a successful visit. He emphasized that mobilization efforts have been completed, and the designated venue, Rukungiri Main Stadium, is fully set to host the president and invited guests.
Nsubuga outlined the categories of individuals who will attend the event, noting that attendance is strictly by invitation. Among the invited guests are all LC V chairpersons from the Kigezi sub-region, Chief Administrative Officers, RDCs, accredited media personnel, Members of Parliament from Kigezi, district NRM chairpersons, heads of departments at the district and municipal levels, municipal mayors, and town clerks.
Other key attendees include leaders of Operation Wealth Creation at both district and municipal levels, district councilors, district and municipal commercial officers, and chairpersons of various councils, including the district elders’ council, youth council, women’s council, and disability council.
Additionally, municipal and sub-county NRM chairpersons, security officers such as the regional police commander and district police commanders, NRM municipality league members, District Executive Committee (DEC) members, regional and district internal security officers, five religious leaders from each district, and five exhibitors from each district will be present.
The RDC stressed that only those who have been formally invited will be granted access to the event. However, he encouraged all residents of Rukungiri to embrace the spirit of hosting the president and to remain engaged in the day’s activities, even if they are not attending in person.
