Police in Rukungiri District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose body was discovered in a eucalyptus plantation in Kebisoni Town Council.
According to the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, the body was found on May 9, 2026, at around 8:25am in Bishop Ruhindi Cell, Central Ward, Kebisoni Town Council.
The discovery was made by Kamagara Medard, 38, a teacher at Kebisoni Integrated Primary School and a resident of Nyamambo “A” Cell, who reportedly found the body while taking his goats out for grazing.
Medard later informed the area chairperson, Tumuhairwe Julius, 48, a teacher at Bishop Ruhindi Kebisoni High School. The chairperson alerted the GISO of Kebisoni Town Council, who then informed officers at Kebisoni Police Station. Police from CPS Rukungiri later responded to the scene for further management.
Police said the scene was visited, processed, and documented before the body was transferred to Buyanja Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem examination and identification.
According to police, the deceased is believed to be about 32 years old and was dressed in a greenish T-shirt with yellow spots and red underwear, while a black trouser was found beside the body.
Police have appealed to anyone with a missing relative matching the description to visit the mortuary for identification and burial arrangements. Authorities have also urged members of the public with information that could help in the investigations to cooperate with police so that those responsible can be arrested and prosecuted.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
