Christians have been urged to imitate Mary, the mother of Jesus, in their families to sustain their marriages, calling for the proper upbringing of both genders in families and patience in God, who is not a son of man to lie.
These remarks were made by Lay Canon Mable Katongore from West Ankole Diocese during Mother’s Day celebrations held on International Mother’s Day at St Andrew’s C.O.U Kyitazigukurukwa Parish.
In her sharing, she further thanked God for His grace that has enabled her to grow spiritually to who she is today, urging parents to carry on the legacy of Mother Mary. She highlighted that men are the starting point of every child and urged parents to name their children properly, love their wives and children, compliment each other, avoid competition, and embrace humility and prayerfulness like Mary.
Canon Mable highlighted that the Mother’s Union clothes they wear are earthly symbols and that carrying the heavenly nature means living rightly with others. She urged parents to maintain the spirit of hard work, love their husbands, and guide their children properly. She also called upon children to value education for a better future and encouraged families to start income-generating activities so their pockets never run dry and they always have enough food. She further urged Christians to avoid the mindset of poverty, remain positive, and save for tomorrow.
Mother’s Union leader at St Andrew’s C.O.U Kyitazigukurukwa Parish, Jesper Muwhezi, thanked Christians from all corners and the well-wishers for their hard work towards the success of the day, as well as her executive committee for coordinating the celebrations. She said their thanksgiving mission is to support the church project by tiling the Reverend’s house, which is under construction.
She further urged married couples to maintain togetherness and continue building their families for the good of the country.
The Parish Priest of St Andrew’s C.O.U Kyitazigukurukwa Parish, Rev. Bernard Akankiza, thanked God for the good work women are doing in the church, especially for envisioning the tiling project at the Reverend’s house, which has been under construction for the last two months. He also thanked Christians for their hard work and unity.
He further urged women to maintain togetherness even in their families so as to raise disciplined children and enhance development in their homes for better living.
