Christians in Kabale have been called upon to uphold truthfulness, forgiveness, and unity as Uganda enters a politically sensitive period. The call was made during the annual Way of the Cross procession held today, an event commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, traditionally observed on Good Friday.

Former Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament Andrew Aja Baryayanga urged Christians to use the Easter period as a time of reflection and spiritual cleansing. He emphasized that as the country heads into the political season, Christians must lead by example, staying true to the national motto, “For God and My Country.”

Kabale District Deputy Speaker Mugisha Ian Ronald also encouraged believers to strengthen their faith, forgive one another, and use such religious observances as a source of hope and unity for the nation.

Meanwhile, Josephat Ainomuhangi, the chairperson of Bucundura Parish Council in Rukiga District under Kabale Diocese, reminded Christians of the suffering Jesus endured on the cross to redeem humanity. He called upon the faithful not to let politics divide them from their religious values, but rather to allow their faith to guide their actions and promote harmony.

The Way of the Cross in Kabale served not only as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice but also as a timely message for Christians to remain grounded in their faith and values amidst the forthcoming political campaigns.
